The Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) has funded a 3 year project to BITS Pilani (Goa Campus), India. The project will apply statistical ideas of failure mechanics - at an experimental and analytical level to periodic/lattice composites.
Details of application are mentioned in the attachment.
Huajian Gao, Walter H. Annenberg Professor of Engineering at Brown University, has been elected to the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in recognition of his scientific achievements.
You hear about it everywhere: design optimization. The world requires more efficient and reduced emissions products, as with the government regulations directives mandating their adherence to energy standards such as EU’s Ecodesign directive. The competitive pressure across the industry means that it is no longer sufficient to design and manufacture fans that simply work. Energy efficiency, over an extended operating range, has become a vital objective of design effort along with performance to suit the machine’s intended application.
The Post-Doctoral Appointee Program is designed to recruit outstanding Ph.D. applicants to assist a line organization in meeting its mission objectives and to provide a professional technical work environment for the employee. The Ph.D. must have been conferred within one to five years prior to employment. These assignments are for a one-year period, with the option at management’s discretion to serve no more than five additional one-year assignments.
The third Extreme Mechanics Letters (EML) Young Investigator Award is provided by Elsevier to honor the best paper by a young scientist which has been published in volumes 9-12 EML from 2016 to 2017.
We would like to invite you to submit an abstract to the symposium on “Track IX-B: Mechanics of 3D Printed Materials and Structures” at the 54th Annual Technical Meeting of the Society of Engineering Science (SES) to be held from July 25 to July 28, 2017 at Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
Emerging materials and methods for fabricating 3D micro- and nanostructures provide powerful capabilities of relevance across diverse areas of technology. This Review highlights the latest results and future trends associated with the most powerful methods in 3D printing, folding and assembly.
