Phase field fracture modelling using quasi-Newton methods and a new adaptive step scheme
Dear iMechanicians,
Dear iMechanicians,

Beta-sheet protein structures and domains are widely found in biological materials such as silk. These assemblies play amajor role in the extraordinary strength and unique properties of biomaterials. In our new work, we employ simple Langevin-based models to investigate the behavior and the collapse of these structures.
This is the preprint of an article that will appear in Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cma.2020.112946).

I have a vacancy with my colleague Prof. Verstappen at the University of Groningen for a PhD student to work on the computational design of magnetically-driven soft robots (see details in the attached description). Candidates preferably have hands-on experience with finite element development and implementation. If you are interested, please send a CV before March 21 at p.r.onck [at] rug.nl.
An urgent annoncement for the PostDoc position (at the University of Haifa, Israel) for the FEM modelling project on hydrologically-triggerred earthquakes and their aftershocks. The candidates with knowledge of solid mechanics (elastoplasticily) and poroelasticity (preferably) are invited to submit their applications asap. Advanced fellowships is guaranteed.
