Synopsys at 2019 Frontiers in Medical Devices, Washington, March 2019

Submitted by Simpleware on

Date / Time: March 19-21, 2019

Location: College Park Marriott Hotel, University of Maryland, Washington, DC, USA

Synopsys will be the 2019 BMES/FDA Frontiers in Medical Devices event to talk about how Simpleware software is used for medical device design and biomedical engineering. We will also be providing a technology showcase seminar to demonstrate how to go from 3D image data to models for different applications.

A PostDoc/Research Assistant Professor Position is available immediately on DFT/Phase Field Modeling at the Colorado School of Mines. The applicants should have a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or in a relevant field, with a strong background in DFT calculations and phase-field modeling. The project involves simulating structures/phases, kinetics and nano/microstructural evolution in advanced manufacturing.

Fully funded Marie-Curie PhD positions (UK and Denmark)

Submitted by Atul Bhaskar on

Two PhD positions are available at the University of Southampton (jointly with an industrial partner in Denmark). Both poisitions are in the broad area of structural vibration.

(1) Analytical and computational structural dynamics and vibration (in the context of elastic and acoustic metamaterial, especially those fabricated using additive manufacturing):

The role of plastic strain gradients in the crack growth resistance of metals [code included]

Submitted by Emilio Martíne… on

I hope some of you will find our recent paper in the Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids interesting. The Abaqus user element (UEL) subroutine developed to implement strain gradient plasticity theories with energetic and dissipative higher order stresses (Gudmundson 2004, Fleck and Willis 2009) can be downloaded from www.empaneda.com/codes
