International Conference on Fatigue Damage of Structural Materials

The deadline for late abstract submissions has been extended to 20 April 2018.

Please submit your poster and oral abstracts on the topics listed below using the online abstract submission system.

Conference Topics:

Postdoctoral position in atomic scale modeling at the University of Connecticut

Submitted by Dongare on

The Computational Materials and Mechanics Group (CMMG) at the University of Connecticut has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher in modeling of behavior of materials at the atomic scales starting Fall 2018. The student/postdoctoral researcher will work on the development and application of atomistic modeling methods (density functional theory, molecular dynamics) to investigate the links between atomic scale microstructure and the properties/performance of materials under various operating conditions.

Postdoctoral Researcher: Required Qualifications:

Effects of oscillating pressure on desalination performance of transverse flow CNT membrane

Submitted by Jingjie Yeo on

https://doi.org/10.1016/j.desal.2018.03.029 In parallel with recent developments in carbon nanomaterials, there is growing interest in using these nanomaterials for desalination. To date, many studies have affirmed the potential of using such nanomaterials for constant pressure desalination operation. In this work, the performance of such membrane when subjected to oscillatory pressure at sub-nanosecond is investigated in detail.

Post-Doctoral Fellow in Electron Backscatter Diffraction Techniques

Submitted by moh22000 on

The University of New Brunswick’s (UNB’s) Marine Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence (MAMCE) is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow who has specialized in applying Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) techniques in the one or more of the following fields: Materials Science, Metallurgy, and Additively Manufactured Alloys. Experience with the electron microscopy of natural and synthetic metals combined with EBSD techniques is required, including sample preparation. The successful applicant will support ongoing research programs in two key areas:

PhD position in computational mechanics

Submitted by Arttu Polojärvi on

We in Aalto University School of Engineering are looking for a doctoral student to work on numerical modelling of fragmentation of quasi-brittle materials. In more detail, you will study breakage and fragmentation of ice blocks. These phenomena occur under compressive loads in ice block to ice block contacts. The fragmentation process is complicated, and requires novel numerical modelling techniques. Modelling may need to be done on different scales, which may have to reach from very high resolution modeling to simplified contact models on larger scale.
