Dear Colleagues,

The Time-Dependent Materials Technical Division of the Society of Experimental Mechanics invites you to submit an abstract to Track 2,“Challenges in Mechanics of Time-Dependent Materials” at the SEM International Congress & Exposition on Experimental and Applied Mechanics (Indianapolis, IN, June 12-15, 2017). The submission deadline has been extended to October 31st.

PhD student open position at Virginia Tech

There is an open position for a Research Assistant in my group. The project in on multi-physics multi-scale modeling of composite materials. The successful applicant should have a strong background in continuum mechanics and be proficient in programming languages such as Fortran, C,or Python. Formation path of delta hydrides in zirconium by multiphase field modeling

A multiphase field model is developed to study the effects of metastable ζ and γ hydrides on the nucleation and growth of the stable δ hydrides in α zirconium matrix.  Acta Materialia 123 (2017) 235-244
