Faculty Position in Solid Mechanics at UIUC
The Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering (MechSE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for faculty positions at all levels in Solid Mechanics, broadly defined, with particular emphasis on research that is experimental in nature. MechSE at Illinois has a strong tradition in solid mechanics, and offers a BS degree in Engineering Mechanics and MS/PhD programs in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, as well as BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering.
mini-symposium on Multiscale and Plasticity Models of Energy Related Materials
PhD studentship position on "modelling of surface defects transformation in hot rolling of steel"
a PhD student ship is available for UK/EU nationals (ONLY) to develop a Finite Element model of the rolling
operation to predict the behaviour of surface defects on the rolled
material during hot rolling of steels. The effects of geometrical parameters along with the material
properties and the rolling geometry, such as bite angle, on the behaviour of
the surface defects during rolling will be investigated. The
project is partially funded by Tata Steel Europe,

Open Faculty Positions in Mechanical Engineering at Boston University
The Department of Mechanical Engineering invites outstanding applicants in all areas of
Mechanical Engineering for tenure-track positions at the level of Assistant Professor beginning
Fall 2014. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is multi-disciplinary with strong research
programs in Biomechanics, Robotics and Control, MEMs and Nanotechnology, Thermo-fluid
Sciences and Energy, Bioacoustics, and Materials. The department is further strengthened by its
affiliation with the Photonics Center, the Division of Materials Science and Engineering, The
Division of Systems Engineering, and the Fraunhofer USA Center for Manufacturing Innovation.
