Postdoc Positions in Ultrasonics at the Ohio State University

Submitted by Jia Li on

Post-doctoral position is available in the area of ultrasonic material characterization and nondestructive evaluation (strong background and experience in ultrasonic
experiment and modeling are required
). The position is supported
from research grants. The focus area is ultrasonic study of
nonhomogenous materials like polycrystalline materials, composites and
adhesive bonds. State of the art ultrasonic laboratories
and other characterization facilities are available. More details will
be provided to interested individuals.

PhD position at the University of Glasgow on “Modelling of geo-engineered barriers for underground nuclear waste storage”

This project will take place at the School of Engineering of the
University of Glasgow in the UK and will be jointly supervised by Dr
Domenico Gallipoli and Dr Peter Grassl. The project will develop the
simulation tools for predicting the long-term behaviour of
geo-engineered barriers used in the geological (underground) storage of
nuclear waste. A typical geological storage scheme for nuclear waste

Abstract

Postdoc in Solid Mechanics at Brown University

Submitted by Allan F Bower on

The solid mechanics program in the School of Engineering, Brown University has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate in the area of mechanics of battery electrode materials.

The successful candidate will develop and apply continuum-scale models of mechanical decrepitation and capacity loss in Li ion insertion electrodes.  The project will involve close collaboration with atomic-scale modelers, experimentalists and industrial partners.
