An exciting research position for a Postdoctoral Research Associate is available
in a project to understand the dynamic properties of alloys and composites
under high strain rates. The project is funded by the Australian Research
Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Design in Light Metals. As the
School is strengthening its research and teaching capabilities in the area of
Mechanics and Materials, this is an opportunity for individuals to expand on
their pre-existing research findings or to start a new research career. 

    I am looking for a possible opening for a postdoctor concerning the synthesis and utilizations of nanomaterials and metal oxides nanocomposites or any other else in the energy-related materials. I am a PhD candidate now in Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and I will graduate in June 2012.

During my PhD, my work mainly focuses on the synthesis of nanomaterials and carbon materials and evaluate their electrochemical energy storage performances and explore other useful energy storage devices and tecnologies.

The Institute Structural Mechanics at the Bauhaus University Weimar is looking for a PhD-student who is interested in pursuing her/his PhD in omputational Mechanics. The PhD is about uncertainty quantification, verification and validation in the context of a multiscale methods that ridges atomistic domains with continuum domains.

Qualification

Applicants should have a M.Sc. and B.E. in Computational Mechanics, applied Mathematics, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.

Hutchinson, of Harvard University, will receive the 2012 Ludwig-Prandtl-Ring.  The award is the highest honor bestowed by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Luft- und Raumfahrt, the German Society for Aeronautics and Astronautics.   Ludwig Prandtl was a great pioneer of modern Aerodynamics.  The Ludwig-Prandtl-Ring is awarded annually to the maximum of one individual for outstanding contributions to Aeronautics and Astronautics.
