How many people were involved in the covid-19 epidemic during the Italian Lockdown in Lombardy, Valle d'Aosta, Veneto and Emilia Romagna? 

How open data on infected and recovered individuals were biased by the limited extent in the use of medical swabs? 

How lockdown measures have influenced the spread of covid-19 epidemic in the above regions?

Technology Transfer from research to companies and institutions is one of the missions of the Universities in Italy and also of the Italian system for higher education.

In this framework, 4 over 6 Schools for Advanced Studies, IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore and Istituto Universitario di Studi Superiori Pavia share a common office for technology transfer initiatives, JoTTO, see www.jointto.it

Dear All, 

a PhD Student Position at the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca is now available within the EU MSCA-ITN-ETN Marie Curie Innovative Training Network project "NewFrac". The topic concerns computational fracture mechanics (phase field and cohesive zone mdoels), for photovoltaic (multi-physics) applications, see:

Virtual testing and digital twin models for Industry4.0 - PhD positions and industrial cooperations

Virtual testing is an established methodology in computational mechanics to accelerate the design of new materials and components. Nonetheless, there is plenty of room to transfer such methods in R&D departments of SMEs.

Recently, digital twin models come into play, and they are opening even more perspectives to incorporate computational mechanics and optimization towards the realization of digital models of real production lines.

a new project at the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca (Lucca, Italy) has just been launched to create the first open access database of rough surfaces from nature and technology, see:
