regarding Microstructure analysis in ABAQUS

Submitted by deepumaj on

Hi all,

I am doing microstructure analysis in 3D. To implement anisotropy, i need to give the orientation data. Does anyone know, how to give the orientation in ABAQUS?

The data i have in hand is Euler Angles... Can i give the data manually for four of five grains?

Also, please tell me about the ORIENT subroutine in ABAQUS...

Charge localization instability in a highly deformable dielectric elastomer

Submitted by tongqing.lu on

A highly deformable capacitor made of a soft dielectric and two conformal

electrodes can switch between two states discontinuously, by a first-order transition, as the total

charge varies gradually. When the total charge is small, it spreads evenly over the area of the

capacitor, and the capacitor deforms homogeneously. When the total charge is large, it localizes in

a small region of the capacitor, and this region thins down preferentially. The capacitor will

QS abour shear load on a plate with a crack

Submitted by Brick chaouche Amine on

Good mouring, I am using Abaqus to model a antiplane shear loading of a crack in a plate under planestress condition, therefore i have defined the geometry of the problem with thier mechanical properties and loading; i defind a crack i run the analysis i got this following umbarassing errormessages:

How to get nodes from a list of nodelabel in abaqus

Submitted by Aswathi Sudhir on

 Hi everyone,

I am a working on a cube in abaqus. I had to remove some nodes from the face node sets. To be specific edge nodes. I have defined a function in such a way that after removing them what I have is a list of node labels. I am scripting in python. Can anyone help me in extracting nodes back from nodelabels?

Or is there any better way to remove some nodes from nodelist and get the modified nodelist ?

Thanks

Why am I getting a messy signal FFT instead of a smooth one?

Submitted by r_1159 on

Hi

I am doing wave simulation on plates with various damages. Guided sinusoidal waves are generated and scattered throughout the plate. To compare the results I am getting FFt of displacement (frequency domain). The one without damage gives me a very smooth FFT while the ones with damage give me a messy FFT ( Please see the attached photo). Is it something to do with filtering or is any thing wrong with my results ?

Residual stresses in elastic medium upon uniform cooling

Submitted by dhananj on

Hi All,

I am a student working on a project involving the effect of residual stresses in elastic and viscoealstic materials. I have a related question: When an easltic body is heated to a certain temperature (say 400 deg C) and then cooled uniformly to room temperature (20 deg C) with a constant cooling rate "q", does this generate any "un-desirable" (residual) stresses within the elastic body? i.e at a steady state - room temperature, does the final stress state within the body would be non-zero? Else, it would eventually reach a state of zero stresses? How?

Massvolume vs. Spacetime

Apples and oranges. Each element in a set is a pile containing some number of apples and some number of oranges.  Adding two piles means putting them together, resulting in a pile in the set. Multiplying a pile and a real number r means finding in the set a pile r times the amount.  We model each pile as a vector, and the set as a two-dimensional vector space over the field of real numbers.
