Physical significance of strain

Submitted by amitshah3333 on

Hi All,

I would like to know about physical significance of Strain. How
it determines failure of structure?

Say for example Compressive strain of concrete being 0.002.
Does it means that if (any) concrete member of original length 100mm deforms 2
mm (when compressed) will fail? Since Strain in this case will be (2/100) =
0.02?

Request you to help me to understand concept of strain.

Thankyou,

Amit

Dear Gropu member,

I am josyula, working on machinability study of composites on abaqus .

1) i need help in modeling of particulate reinforce composite.

2) i need help in simulation of turning  in abaqus.

bauchinger effect

Submitted by danielteruna on

Hi! all

I have conducted several test of steel plate under cyclic load in order to get hysteretic cuve. some specimens showed a significant differences between tension and compression load. I read from texbook about this phenomena and it say because of bauschinger effect. Iam wondering why the diffrences to large and sometimes more than 50%. I am very appreciate if some one can explain about this problem.

regards
