Methodology of simulation post-processing for metal parts in Abaqus

Submitted by V. Pouzols on

I mesh most of my parts in C3D8R. My simulation are quasi-static, and involve a lot of contacts. To model steel, I use a classic elastic-plastic behavior, coming from stress-strain curves we measured. I have the yield strength of the material and the strain at break. My questions concern post-processing.

Hot embossing in ANSYS

Submitted by dhananjay1984 on

dear all,

Finally i found out the way to simulate PMMA embossing using Mooney Revlin constants at several tempature. Now i am trying to include Prony model and shift function with Hyperelastic model in ansys. I tried using static and transient analysis but it is not giving viscoelastic flow behaviour. If anyone done this kind of simulation in Ansys please help me. I am sending mooney revlin and prony model constants in ansys WB.

To be included in command file..

Fracture Toughness of Stitched Composites

Submitted by DevrimG on

Dear Colleagues,

I am studying on Interlaminar Properties of 3D Textile Composites. Especially I am focusing on Fracture Toughness of Stitched Composites. Anyone can suggest useful Journal Papers about Stitched Composites and/or Mode I- Mode II Testing for Literature review?

Kind Regards,

Devrim Goktas

Adventures in 9-space

Submitted by Robert G de Boer on

The three by three matrix is a workhorse for mechanicians, yet the study of this tool is seldom addressed mathematically. One reason is that the space of such matrices is nine-dimensional, quite beyond diagrams and  vision. The advantage of a mathematical investigation of the matrix space is clear in the study of two by two real matricies where rotations, shears, and squeezes correspond to area-preserving transformations of the plane. For transformations of space that preserve volume there is a much richer variety of phenomena that may correspond to mechanical events.

How to simulate boundary conditions and apply uniformly distributed load to shell element when I do nonlinear analysis of I-BEAM

Submitted by speedeagle on

Hi, everyone:

I am using ABAQUS to do my final dissertation:nonlinear analysis of steel members.

When I simulated the beam with shell element, first I define reference points at both end of the beam and assign 'RIGID BODY/PIN OR TIE' to  nodes at the edge, after that I applied bending moments and boundary conditions to both reference points.  But after I finished the buckling analysis, the result is not reasonable, the eigen value is about two times the the value I expected.
