Modeling Metal forming in Abaqus...

Submitted by was98 on

I'm currently working on my master thesis which is in the area of metal
forming simulation...

I have one question,,, when adding material plasticity in Abaqus using the
power law...

to what limit shall i go in the tabulated form is it to 100% plasticity or
to the maximum strain the material can take...

in other word,,, if the power law is: σ =250*εp^0.123...

shall i inter the values till at σ=250, ε=1... or shall i stop at let say ε=0.25...

Regards,,,

RECENT DEVELOPEMENTS ON THE USE OF FDM IN ELASTICITY ANALYSIS

Submitted by shuvo on

Computational field of solid mechanics is mostly dominated by FEM.   This is a well known topic.

But is it that  FDM (finite difference method) has no chance of surviving
in solid mechanics?

What are the present developments in the use of FDM in case of elasticity analysis of solid body?

I would like to mention some of the recent research works on this topic here.....

Recently a new mathematical model has been developed by Prof. S. Reaz Ahmed and his students known as the "displacement potential approach".

Ductile Fracture Simulation

Submitted by PKS on

Hi,

I am simulating ductile fracture through uniaxial tensile test. The material is Aluminum Alloy. Dogbone specimen is simulated to get Equivalent Strain Vs Stress Triaxiality & Equivalent Strain Vs Lode Angle plots. The evolution of Stress Triaxiality & Lode Angle must be 1/3 & 1 respectively over time or with Equivalent Strain. I have marked few time history solid elements in the rupture zone of model. The problem is, Triaxiality and Lode Angle is different for different time history elements.

Abaqus Script Manual/Tutorial

Submitted by Johannes T.B. … on

I have written a introduction manual/tutorial on Abaqus Scripting. I got some good feedback from my colleagues. Therefore, I would like to share the manual. The manual should give a short introduction (it will not take more than one hour) to Abaqus script in Python.

You can find the manual here:

Abaqus Script Manual

Via the same link you can also find more information on the connection between Matlab and Abaqus

Good luck!

LS DYNA BIRD STRIKE SIMULATION

Submitted by Riccardo Sgobbo on

Hello everyone!

I'm a Mechanical Engineer performing a Bird Strike simulation on a Radome using ANSYS LS DYNA.

I'm using ALE Formulation to simulate this but after some minutes of processing, the program says :

- impossible find file batch ansyslsdynaz.bat

- Error for invalid volume on "n" redo cycle

And some nodes have x, y and z velocity as NaN.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks
