Post-doctoral positions at UCSB in mechanics

Submitted by mrb3h on

The Materials Department and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UCSB invites applications for post-doctoral fellowships in computational mechanics, with an emphasis on (1) micromechanics of layered systems and (2) high temperature composites. The position involves significant collaboration with a wide variety of colleagues working on many aspects of structural materials, including those in industry and other academic institutions. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong track record of publication.

Contact analysis in abaqus

Submitted by b09saigu on

I’m very much obliged to you if you would be so kinds help me.  I am trying to design washing machine. Initially I want to try doing a static analysis. For this, I have modeled cylinder (shell) and, placing them on the solid ribs. After this i have applied boundary condition to the assembly, and also a load (centrifugal). For only Tie connection between cylinder and rib, I got simulation but less strain at rib region.

A new doctoral college, Energy Systems 2030, is about to start at Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), Vienna, Austria.

A one-page flyer is available at http://www.ilsb.tuwien.ac.at/gener/DC_ENSYS_e.pdf and the doctoal college's web page can be found at http://ensys2030.tuwien.ac.at/EN/.

Within ENSYS 2030 there are 10 openings for doctoral students. Applications can be filed from August 5, 2010.

Contact Formulation, Abaqus

Submitted by adarshchatra on

Hi,

I am modelling installation (Jacking) of concrete pile (rigid body) in soil (Eulerian soil) which involves large deformations.

For jacked pile contact friction is considered as zero.

Inorder to cope up with large deformation which occur during pile penetration process kinematic contact fomulation is used, this formulation is based of master-slave principle implemented in ABAQUS.

When I run the analysis i am encountering with following error:

Foundation on soil - ABAQUS

Hi there,

Recently I have modelled a 2D block of soil, at the first step of analysis the soil block subjected to a gravitational load (Gravity) and gravitational stresses generated in the soil block, at the second step, a little rectangular part of soil block removed and currently a concrete block with same size of removed soil embedded on the soil block. this concrete block to be subjected a surface loading.

Abaqus error: code 5

Submitted by Hardik.M.Singh on

Hi all,

I am trying to run a VUMAT subroutine for isotropic hardeining, whenever I input the command "abaqus j=inp_name user=subroutine_name " the analysis begins, the ODB file is generated but in few secs the analysis exits with an error, and the error is..

Abaqus Error: The executable C:\ABAQUS\6.7-1\exec\explicit.exe

aborted with system error code 5.

It also says...
