How to prevent the trash ADs at iMechanica?

Submitted by Ying Li on

Recently, more and more trash ADs appear at imechanica. The users like "ORDER CIALIS ONLINE - US DRUGSTORE FDA" have added the ADs at the comments. Is there any good method for us to prevent such behavior at imechanica? As one of the moderator, may I have the right to directly give such users name to system operator to prevent these trash ADs?

Any comments are welcome.

UK Newton Post-Doc Fellowship in Computational Mechanics

Submitted by Stephane Bordas on

Dear All,

A new multi-million pound initiative to fund research collaborations and improve links between UK and overseas researchers has been launched.

The Newton International Fellowships aim to attract the most promising, early stage, post-doctoral researchers working overseas, who do not hold UK citizenship, in the fields of humanities, engineering, natural

and social sciences.

The new Mimics 12.1 facilitates image-based finite element simulations

Submitted by Mimics on

Twice a year Materialise, renown provider of innovative software solutions, releases a new version of Mimics, their medical image processing package. The new release, already version 12.1, contains again powerful new features and focuses on linking medical images to finite element applications.

Complmentary Strain Energy - Nonlinearity

Submitted by ramdas chennamsetti on

Hi all!

I read that the "cmplementary starin energy of a structure is not equal to sum of the complementary strain energies of it's components, if there is non-linearity like geometric"

That means for e.g. if I consider a truss stucture subjected to loading so that it undergoes geometric non-linearity, then the sum of the complementary strain energies from members is not equal to complementary strain energy of the structure.

I request somebody to explain why is it so??

 Thanks and regards,

- Ramdas

Kidus

Hi,

I am uisng ABAQUS 6.7/Standard to simulate gear pairs (only static). At a moment I am only taking 2D, so I am using plane strain with quad elements. My problem is how to chnage the mesh refinment with respect to the gears postion, specially on the contact area?

Thank you in advance for any help

Shock Analysis

Submitted by hijazi on

I want to do shock analysis on a 3D modle. Can anybody guide me how to do shock analysis in ANSYS. I only knew that DDAM tye is used in shock analysis but if anyone can guide me step by step i will be highly obliged. I dont know that how to add operational and nonoperational table of frequency Vs PSD after selecting DDAM type analysis.

What are the loading conditions required in Shock analysis???

Effect of Residual stresses on the Interfacial Fracture Toughness of polymer/Metal Interface

Submitted by shirangi on

When a bi-material sample for the characterization of interfacial fracture toughness is manufactured, the sample is not usually stress-free at room temperature. If an interface between a metallic substrate and a polymeric adhesive is considered, there are essentially two sources of residual stresses for a dry sample at room temperature:

1-    The mismatch between the Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE) of adhesive and substrate induces a concave or convex warpage, depending on the CTE values of the two materials.

hi,

i am satish. i am trying to calculate interference stress in interference fit with following dimensions.there is a difference b/w analytical and simulated results. here i am giving dimensions kindly inform to me the values of von misses and pressure at intereference.

shaft od=938.7378, core id=937.8, and core od=1138.2

E=2.1e5,m=.29and coe.of friction=.14

please... help me...

Thanks
