Good aftrnoon to all,

i am new to ansys apdl,so kindly help me with this problem.

i am running linera static analysis for landing skid skid of helicopter but on solving i m getting error like a small negative equation solver pivot term has been encountered at UX degree of freedom.

what is the meaning of this error & how to tackle this?

Problem in printing out the global stiffness matrix

Submitted by ashkan khalili on

Hi everyone,

I'm using UEL in ABAQUS. My model just has one 4-node element (defined in UEL) fixed in one end. When I'm running the UEL, it's working without any problm. But when I' trying to print out the global stiffness matrix I'm getting this error: "aborted with system error code 1073740940".

This is the way that I'm trying to print it out:

*STEP, NAME=STEP-1
*MATRIX GENERATE, STIFFNESS
*MATRIX OUTPUT, STIFFNESS
*END STEP

Would you please let me know what's the problem and how I can fix it?

How to define a specific time active force curve in Abaqus

Submitted by dgquvn on

I was trying to create a load curve associated with time, such as a sine curve at the beginning, and then the force vanishes. Therefore, I cannot just use the periodic curve directly. I tried to input two loads periodic sine curves(same step) so that at a later time like t_0 the total load is cancelled. But it seems the displacement reaction is kind of weird. Is this the right way to do this kind of load-time curve, or is there another better way? Thanks a lot.

why i got different geometry shape in ABAQUS viewer / import part

Submitted by cclcjp on

Hi everyone,

I was trying to export a deformed geometry from ABAQUS. So, I chose a method found online which is using CAE to import the ODB file, i.e. File -- Import -- Part -- File Filter -- Output Database option and specify the deformed shape and then save it as an input file.

However, what I got by importing the ODB is different with that shown in the simulation result. Could anyone tell me why is that? And How could I get a correct deformed geometry.

cheers

Looking for Postdoc position in UK, USA or Canada

My PhD in  Mechanical Engineering Dept. of Middle East Technical University, Turkey ended by Dec. 2014. In both M.S. and PhD I studied the numerical analyses of metal forming processes with ABAQUS together with huge experimental works. I have a patented idea in hydroforming of sheet metals in my M.S. and also I have developed a Ductile Fracture Criterion during my PhD which means I have a robust background of computational mechanics.

Looking for Research/Postdoc Opportunity.

Dear Fellow Members,

I am currently pursuing my PhD research under the supervision of Prof. Ralf Müller at the Institute for Applied Mechanics, TU Kaiserslautern, Germany. I have submitted my dissertation on October 2014. And expecting to defend my PhD work on March, 2015.

You will be responsible for using numerical methods and computer software to design, develop and validate novel window system. You will also be involved in theoretic analysis and characterisation of conventional noise control design such as microperforated panel (MPPs) and advanced active approaches such as active structural acoustics control. You will also evaluate prototypes and optimising the design until it works by using modelling and simulation as the main tool.
