cdmHUB.org: Online Composites Community of the Future
I thought this might be of interest for some imechanicans, particularly those who work on composites (anisotropic and/or heterogeneous materials). Sorry if it sounds a bit infomercial.
Imagine a youtube-like environment for you to deploy a cloud version of your code without any change to your original code. Your research code can be immediately shared with the global community.
How one could define appropriate bases and create a desired space for building a model?

differentiation of Strain energy Function
Dear,
I am having problem to find "Cauchy stress(σ) " and " Spatial elastic Tensor (c)" from the "strain energy function (ψ)" using 2nd Piola Kirchhoff stress ( S) of transversely isotropic hyper-elastic material. as per the Mechanics the
Speech of Acceptance of the 2014 Timoshenko Medal by Robert M. McMeeking
Applied Mechanics Division Banquet, Palais des congrès de Montréal, Quebec, Canada, November 18th, 2014.
Now I can say whatever I like in my Timoshenko Lecture and it won’t matter – because you will only remember Ken Liechti playing the bagpipes and, perhaps, the kilts. Thank you Ken.
Modelling cartilage using Hyperelastic+Permeability in ABAQUS
Hi,
I am modeling a contact problem. I have chosen Hyperelasticity+permeabilty for catilage material. I apply a displacement over a short time and fix it over a long time to see the force relaxation procedure. during loading time we assume that the boundries ar impermeable but over long time are permeable.
there are some questions that I'm facing with:
1) Shall I use one step and put permeable Boundaries?
Postdoctoral Research Position in Structural-Scale Life Prediction of Aero-Structures Experiencing Combined Extreme Environments
The objectives of this project are to develop methods to probabilistically predict the life of aero-structures subjected to combined extreme environmentsand also to quantify confidence in the predicted margins of safety on the life.
Illinois Institute of Technology - Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering Department - Multiple Faculty Positions
Applications are invited for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant or associate professor level. The MMAE Department at IIT is seeking candidates with interdisciplinary research interests contributing to one or more of the department’s areas of strategic research emphasis, which include (1) mechanical design, (2) digital manufacturing, (3) computational materials science and engineering, or other research areas that enable strong collaborations.
