Material Subroutine in LS DYNA
Hi all,
I have developed a viso-hyperelastic material model, and now I am trying to implement it in LS DYNA for which I need to write a sub routine. Since I am developing a subroutine for the first time, I am finding it a bit challenging. I have enough documentation for doing this in ABAQUS but not for LS DYNA. I wanted to know what is the major difference between subroutines written for ABAQUS and LS DYNA? Or is there too much of difference to be even compared? It would be of great help for me if you could answer this question for me. Thank you very much
Stiffness with loss of material
Dear All
I am modeling a workpiece supported in fixtures and being machined. I use the FEM ( Ansys) to simulate this set up. I need to know at the stiffness of wp at the wp-fixture contact point . Stiffness is found by applying unit force at one contact point while fixing all others.. Inverse of displaceemnt gives the stiffness in that direction. I have two questions reg this.
Joint PhD Program: University of Minnesota (USA) - Ecole Polytechnique (France)

Nonlocal Damage implementation using ABAQUS UEL
Hi everyone,
In order to simulate nonlocal damage in trabecular bone structures in
ABAQUS, I need to implement the constitutive laws into the user element
subroutine (UEL), since it is not possible to implement nonlocal FE in
UMAT, as far as I know!
I would be very much grateful if someone, who has experience in this
regard, esp how to implement 3D elements, e.g. C3D8, into a UEL code,
shares some knowledge.
Best,
Hadi
Subra Suresh in line to be the Director of the National Science Foundation
Subra Suresh, the Dean of Engineering, of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is in line to become the next Director of the National Science Foundation (NSF), according to this post at Science.
The NSF director must be confirmed by the Senate, although it would be unusual for a nominee to attract any opposition.
extra shape function
i was using extra shape function for modelling 8 noded brick element. what is the extra shape function used in ansys for solid5 element modelling voltage degree of freedom?
Viscosity of PMMA
I am looking for the value of Bulk viscosity and shear viscosity of PMMA at room temperature . If anybody has any idea i request for a help to supply the value to me
Thanking you
Best regards..

Today is Pi day and Einstein's birthday, again!
Google's logo is very cute today !
Today is defined as Pi day, it is also Albert Einstein's birthday. Besides, today is Japaness lover's "white day".
According to Wiki, "In the 1980s the Japanese National Confectionery Industry Association launched a successful campaign to make March 14 a "reply day", where men are expected to return the favour to those who gave them chocolates on Valentine's Day, calling it White Day for the color of the chocolates being offered."
