How to use ALE in modelling extrusion of AL circular tubes through hollow dies(porthole)

Submitted by rajat batra on

Hello,I am an MS student working on extrusion of AL tubes through hollow dies using ABAQUS.I am facing problems in the ALE settings. The job aborts due extensive distortion even after applying and increasing the number of remeshing frequency and sweeps. I greatly appriciate if any one could help me out.

Writing User Routine in DEFORM 3D

Submitted by ashwin.devotta on

Hi all,

I am new to DEFORM 3D and I am intended to simulate the effect of coolant pressure on the chip formation in metal cutting.

I dont know how to incorporate the mechanical effect of coolant pressure on chip formation in machining.

Are there any standard options in DEFORM 3D, which I can use to simulate the same?.

If not, will writing a user subroutine in DEFORM help me to simulate the same?. If the user subroutine, is the only way to do so, I would like to get some material on writing user subroutine in DEFORM 3D?.

Why different between Solid5 and C3D8?

Submitted by frdw on

Has anyone compared the results of Ansys solid5 element and Abaqus c3d8 element? I tried a very simple example with

exactly same conditions for both elements but got very different displacement results. I put both input files here,

can anyone help me check whether there is something wrong? Thanks.

Flexible Linear Shaped Charge Modeling

Submitted by bdmmech on

Hi !!! all

I am doing the Hydrocode simulation using AUTODYN 2D Explicit Hydrodynamic Code. There is apoint of doubt in simulation of a 2D problem regarding the location of Detonation inside the explosive. In the case of a conical shaped charge it is very easy to assume the detonation at the apex of the cone but in case of FLSC being a linear cord and the initiation is done axially, it is very difficult to assume the same condition as that of conical shaped charge.

Please give me some useful solution.

Using Fortran compiler pgf90 with ABAQUS-6.9

Submitted by Vaibhav Yadav on

A problem we are trying to solve in ABAQUS-6.9 involves user defined Fortran subroutine to be compiled by ABAQUS. The default compiler used by ABAQUS is ifort, but what we have is pgf90. Is it possible to make ABAQUS use pgf90 compiler instead of the default ifort ? How?

Thank you

What type ANSYS error this is........

Submitted by tammaraya on

In ANSYS Gives following Error......

Error...."Use of the M switch is no longer recommended for normal ANSYS use. ANSYS now dyanamically allocates memory as needed. Only use the -M switch if you are certain that you need to do so".and suddenly ANSYS window close automatically.....
