Discuss the derivation and numerical calculation of Eshelby Tensor

Submitted by T.ZENG on

In the micromechanics, the Eshelby tensor is always encountered. Now, i am trying my best to solve this kind of problem.

The problem confusing me now is an integration about Fourier integral.

If someone has paied attention to this problme, can we discuss together!!!

Thank you very much for your attention!!!

Haythornthwaite Grants for Students to Attend ASME IMECE 2009

Submitted by Zhigang Suo on

With a generous gift from the Haythornthwaite Foundation, the ASME Applied Mechanics Division will award grants to students presenting their own work at the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE 2009).  The grant will reimburse travel expenses and registration fees, up to $1,000 per student, for up to 10 students.

Deformation Shape doesnt show up

Hi everyone,

well, im glad i found this forum dedicated to abaqus users. i'm just a rookie, got in touch with abaqus in less than a month for my thesis. hope you can help in my first big struggle.

im modeling a nut and a bolt thread in 2d, they should move towards eachother and upon contact they should crash past eachother. i went through all the modules quite ok. i run the job, it is successful. in the visualization window, when i try to see the deformation of the threads the following message is displayed:

Scaling dynamics of seismic activity fluctuations

Submitted by Balankin on

We study the dynamics of the seismic activity in Mexico within a framework of dynamic scaling approach to time series fluctuations, recently suggested by Balankin (Phys. Rev. E, 76 (2007) 056120).We found that the relative seismic activity and the long-sampled fluctuations of seismic activity both display a self-affine invariance within a wide range of consecutive seismic evens.

Topological crossovers in the forced folding of self-avoiding matter

Submitted by Balankin on

We study the scaling properties of forced folding of thin materials of different geometry. The scaling relations implying the topological crossovers from the folding of three dimensional plates to the folding of two-dimensional sheets, and further to the packing of one-dimensional strings, are derived for elastic and plastic manifolds. These topological crossovers in the folding of plastic manifolds were observed in experiments with predominantly plastic aluminum strips of different geometry.

How to incorporate 3d models from vtk onto FEM packages?..is there any particular package which supports them?

Submitted by Bhaskar.R on

Hi friends,

I would like to know whether there is a particular FEA package which would incorporate 3d models from vtk on to it, say for example if abaqus incorporates it how do we do it?. Can you please help me in this regard?

Forced displacement in ABAQUS

Submitted by arefin on

Hello,

I am doing numerical simulation using ABAQUS 6.7. I faced some problem to apply load that will be used as the forced displacement in one face of our model.I used user subroutine for appling load. But, i don't know how to apply forced displacement means the command of forced displacement.

Could you please help me regarding this problem.

Regards,

Arefin
