NRC Research Fellowship Opportunity at Duke University

Submitted by John E. Dolbow on

Researchers at Duke University are seeking applications for NRC research associates, to work with Professors David Stepp and John Dolbow.  The NRC program is unique in the sense that applicants have the opportunity to perform research on a program they design.  The positions are well-paid fellowships and are nominally for two years, extendable to a third.

traditional concrete model VS damage concrete model

Submitted by NewerLi on

In my opioion, the traditional concrete model is taking the smeared cracking concept to deal with the tensile cracking and using the elastoplastic method to deal with the compressive softening.

We can find that recently the CDM based concrete model become a hot research subject.

But what are the advantages of the CDM-based?

Thank you very much!

Numerical phase modeling of BTO nanostructure using Landis' model with FEAP

The difference to the common model used is the f,g terms. The 3D FEM formulation has been derived and a new fortran program is written. The derivative matrix is symmetric. But the calculation result does not converge. I have tried every means to get a converging result. But it doesn't work, the residual norm always increases.

Differences of various strain measures

Submitted by Upasara Wulung on

For large deformation, we have various deformation measures such as Green-Lagrange tensor, Almansi strain tensor, left Cauchy-Green deformation tensor, and right Cauchy-Green deformation tensor. Appreciate very much any explanation in respect to physical differences of those measures, why they are necessary, conditions where one is more accurate than another! Thank you.

measurements of the 9 elastic constants of an orthotropic composite

Submitted by Gao Yunxin on

Hi, it would be greatly appreciated if anyone could tell me the methods to measure the elastic constants of an orthotropic composite (3D). Can we measure one single modulus by one specific stress state? What is the efficient way to do the test? Any information related to this test is appreciated.

Thanks and regards
