Abaqus, bridge-truck analysis.... help

Submitted by entalto on

Hi everyone!

I need advice, I have to carry out a bridge-truck interaction analysis in ABAQUS FOR CATIA. I don´t know where I can start, the thing is that now I´m going to try doing it, in a simplified model in order to don´t loose time.

Can you help me? Can you give me some advices? how to model de truck? I need more or less precission on the bridge not in the truck. I know how to modelice the bridge, the type of element, the meshing, the connectors... but what I don´t know is how to manage Explicit,

Shell 99 in Ansys

Submitted by Stephen Davies on

Hello.

I'm attempting to model a thin composite laminate plate in ansys and after searching this website and using the ansys help, I have chosen to use shell 99. However when I load up the Ansys 8.0 software on the university computers (I am a student), I can not seem to find the Shell 99 choice, or in fact any of the other possibilites, such as shell 91, shell181, solid 46, or solid 191.

Just wondering if anyone would know why this is the case, I'm hoping that it;'s not because it's a university edition or something.

How to prevent the trash ADs at iMechanica?

Submitted by Ying Li on

Recently, more and more trash ADs appear at imechanica. The users like "ORDER CIALIS ONLINE - US DRUGSTORE FDA" have added the ADs at the comments. Is there any good method for us to prevent such behavior at imechanica? As one of the moderator, may I have the right to directly give such users name to system operator to prevent these trash ADs?

Any comments are welcome.

Complmentary Strain Energy - Nonlinearity

Submitted by ramdas chennamsetti on

Hi all!

I read that the "cmplementary starin energy of a structure is not equal to sum of the complementary strain energies of it's components, if there is non-linearity like geometric"

That means for e.g. if I consider a truss stucture subjected to loading so that it undergoes geometric non-linearity, then the sum of the complementary strain energies from members is not equal to complementary strain energy of the structure.

I request somebody to explain why is it so??

 Thanks and regards,

- Ramdas

Kidus

Hi,

I am uisng ABAQUS 6.7/Standard to simulate gear pairs (only static). At a moment I am only taking 2D, so I am using plane strain with quad elements. My problem is how to chnage the mesh refinment with respect to the gears postion, specially on the contact area?

Thank you in advance for any help
