Fully funded 3year PhD position at Univ Rostock, Germany: multistable composite structures

The chair of lightweight design (Prof. Weissgraeber) at the University of Rostock, Germany, offers a fully-finded PhD-position for 3 years (extension possible). 

 We are seeking for an excellent candidate interested in research on a Ph.D. project in the field of applied structural mechanics. The research project will be on of shape-adaptive lightweight structures and developing new analytical approaches for multistable composite structures.

 Recruitment requirements

• Above-average university degree (diploma, master's degree or comparable degree) in mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, civil engineering, materials science, computational mechanics, computational engineering, biomedical engineering or a comparable field of study. Degree with at least good, preferably very good results.
• In-depth knowledge of structural analysis demonstrated by attendance of appropriate courses and/or a relevant course and/or master's thesis.
• knowledge of composite materials is desirable
• programming skills (if possible, please attach to your documents an excerpt of at least 200 lines of code written by you - preferably in Python)
• ideally language proficiency in German and English
• willingness to work seriously and with commitment on a project of your own scientific qualification
• ability to work independently and creatively; willingness to perform and ability to work in a team

The net salary is around 2500 EUR including health insurance etc. German language skills are a plus, but not required.
