How is the entropy of polarization in dielectric material

Submitted by Bo Li on

In the study of thermoelastic actuation of dielectric elastomer, we can write the Helmholtz free-energy as a function of stretch ratio, nominal electric displacement and temperature (T).

The entropy (S) is the negative partial differential coefficient of W with respect of temperature (T). And we can see the change of S is due to three components: deformation, heat conduction and polarization. In an isothermal state, the deformation part has been fully investigated by Arruda and Boyce in 1993, but the polarization-induced entropy (Sp) has not been clearly stated.

Submitted by Bent F. Sørensen on

The Materials Research Division, Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy, Technical University of Denmark, is seeking candidates for a Senior Researcher position in the area of processing of polymer matrix composites to develop innovative strategies and to improve current methods of manufacturing polymer matrix composites for the energy and transport sector.

Risø DTU has close collaboration with the leading wind turbine blade manufactures such as LM Glasfiber A/S, Vestas Wind Systems A/S and Siemens Wind Power A/S.

Regarding thermo mechanical simulation of Hot rolling

Submitted by Manoj Krishna … on

Hi ,

I have to do a thermo mechanical simulation of rolls (which is used for hot rolling process). I did plain starin cold rolling problem using 2-d analytical rigid surface. But I am quite confused to do the same for hot rolling process. Since during hot rolling thermal load also comes into play. Now how to solve this thermo mechanical coupled problem is an utmost question to me. I have tried to understand the heat transfer problem from given examples of friction brake disk. But it was not cleared.

fatigue machine

Submitted by agg E.kalimeris on

I am preparing my PHD in the National Technical Univercity of Athens (Faculty of Applied Sciences ,Department of Mechanics). We have recently bought an instron fatigue model 1276 (static capacity 2000 kNt ,dynamic capacity 1000 KNt) from the Greek Army. The machine is in bad condition and it needs service. Unfortunately , the manuals of the machine are missing. The machine is quite old and it is very difficult to find the mannuals from the manufacturer . Does anybody has the manuals or knows where i can find them?
