CAE system for strength analysis at large strains redistribution.

Within research and development work with
the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation MSU Mechanics
and Mathematics Faculty has developed a multi-platform 3D prototype of the
software for computational modelling of strain concentrators generation in a
loaded body.

Fracture Resistance of Silicon With Nano Scratch Testing

Submitted by NANOVEA on

Scratch testing, using nano loads, has become widely used for the study of adhesion strength and marring resistance of thin films and coatings. This same test can also be used to study fracture behavior on brittle substrates similar to a marring resistance test approach. This can provide an in-depth observation of failure on delicate substrate materials at precisely controlled and recorded loads.

Nano Puncture Resistance Using Nanoindentation

Submitted by NANOVEA on

Traditional Puncture Tests are typically used to determine the penetration characteristics of a wide range of protective material such as films, foils or membrane. It is widely used in food and medical industries on applications ranging from food packaging to rubber gloves and needles. The test is preformed like that of a compressive test. A probe, with multiple tip selection, uses increasing load until material is penetrated and load is recorded at failure.

Profilometers using Low Coherence Interferometry used by NASA to measures thickness

Submitted by profilometer on

Using a fiber-based optical profilometer NASA measures the thickness of liquid nitrogen in cryogenic chambers at its Propulsion Systems lab because these profilometers use fiber-based probes which can withstands the extreme environment, can be located hundreds of meters away from the interferometer and fit in the tight chamber which standard full-field profilometers with a human operator could not. The signal quality stays constant over the distance.

Dear friends,

I have a question which I posted in BLOGS section a week or so back. But I have no reply / comment  from any reader of the blog.

So I am re-posting the same in this section ( FORUM) .

The query is as below ;

Generating MIST

from still water

How much velocity / acceleration (linear) is needed

to be imparted to water lying at rest (at atmospheric pressure) to convert it

into MIST ?

Renewable Power And Sunlight Energy - Thin-Film Solar Panel Products

Submitted by gloriatrack on

As technology constantly advances there are many new green technologies released each day that can help us improve our energy efficiency. One such technology is the "Thin-Film Solar Panel." How are thin-film solar panels being utilized by consumers today? How do they compare against traditional photovoltaic (PV) panels?

Shot Peen Hardness With Nanoindentation

Submitted by NANOVEA on
The intention of shot peening is ultimately to alter the mechanical properties of a given surface. By hitting the surface with controlled shot the surface will deform plastically. Proper Instrumentation, nanoindentation, will play a vital factor in achieving reliable and intended results.
