Term paper writing

   Writing!!!!!!!! Writing!!!!!!!!!!!!! Writing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nowadays all of the institutions demand “paper” submission; this is a part of the academy. Even in the high school student, they want to submit some writing like coursework writing, for research students, undergraduate students, and post graduate students – all of the students are suffering to submit papers within the time.

M Tech/ME and B Tech/BE Projects Available in Pune (Mech., CS, etc.)

I have quite a few ideas for MTech/ME/BTech/BE degree projects. The projects may be suitable in many different branches, including Mechanical, Computer Science, Metallurgical, Aerospace, Civil, etc. (In a few cases, MSc/M Phil students of departments like Physics or Computer Modeling and Simulation would be suitable too.)

All these projects are available for the new academic year (2008-09), at Pune, India.

Web 2.0 and Medicine

I stumbled across this interesting blog post yesterday concerning an upcoming course on medicine via web 2.0.   It appeared quite interesting from several perspectives: first, medicine is often associated with being behind the times on technology but this all looks pretty current, secondly it may be the most comprehensive listing of topics I have seen where web 2.0 is applied to a single discipline, and finally it made me wonder what more we could do with mechanics via web 2.0 beyond just the

Composite Modelling in Abaqus

Hello,

Pardon my basic question.  I need to model a carbon fibre sheet using Abaqus 6.7.  I cannot seem to get the composite layup tool to work properly and I do not know how to define the material properties for carbon fibre.  Are there any good online turorials I can use to do this?  My part will be 8-ply, 125mm square, ~1mm thinck.  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Tyler

i will be very grateful to you.

Mechanics of Soft Active Materials

At the invitation of David Clarke on behalf of the UCSB/Los Alamos Institute of Multiscale Materials and Structures, I gave the following three lectures:

  1. Large deformation and instability in dielectric elastomers
  2. Large deformation and instability in swelling polymeric gels
  3. Mechanics and electrochemistry of polyelectrolyte gels

The abstracts follow, and the slides are attached at the end of this post.

Rotating Beams/Frequencies/Errors/Abaqus input file attached

Im trying to model a rotating uniform beam for 12 rotational speeds in Abaqus using c3d20 elements. As expected, "step 1 to step 5" the frequencies increase as the rotational speed is increased. However, for some strange reason, the frequencies stop varying from the fifth speed. I do get warning messages when running the input file but i cant intepret them well since Im new to Abaqus.

I believe the problem is elementary but i cant figure it out. Can anyone review or run the attached input file to let me know what I  am not doing or what exactly is wrong.

Many thanks.

Short course FRACTURE, SCALING AND SIZE EFFECT

Scaling of fracture strength, fracture energy and toughness is an important issue when it comes to predicting the behaviour of large-scale structures on the basis of laboratory scale measurements. Historically the work of Leonardo da Vinci and Gallileo is well known, followed by the statistical weakest link theory derived by Weibull in 1939. Weibull scaling is a statistical approach assuming instantaneous failure when the weakest link in a material structure fails.

Modeling DCB Specimen using Ansys to determine Energy Release Rate

Hi

Iam working on ansys modelling of DCB specimen to determine the energy release rate. Ihave modeled a CT specimen and determined its SIF. Is it right way to model the DCB by changing the dimensions of CT specimen and making it a DCB specimen?..

How can i find out energy release rate of the specimen?

Iam pretty new to Ansys

THANKS ALL

Problem is using static/riks option

I have some problem in defining the material properties using UMAT. I want to simulate the cubic stress-strain traction-sepration law. Solution doesn't converge after max load is applied (i.e zero slope of stress-strain plot). I am using riks solver. I have written my stress -strain relationship as below in UMAT file. Please tell me how to converge the solution even after zero slope of stress-strain relationship. Can i make my load factor(lambda) negative in riks option.

""STUDY GROUP""

This is a great news for all students here in iMechanica! The formation of a study group which will focus on the basic concepts and the facts of daily research, the simple tools that any of us will need at a certain stage. Please see blow the formation of this idea and add your comment, it would be good to know other points of view as we can improve the initial idea step by step.

Berger on Video Solutions for Teaching Mechanics

Professor Ed Berger, Univeristy of Virginia Mechanical Engineering, is featured in the Chronicle of Higher Education for his use of web technologies and, in particular, "video solutions" for teaching undergraduate mechanics courses. See http://chronicle.com/weekly/v54/i34/era01301.htm.  Or contact Berger at berger@virginia.edu.  Ed hasn't used this approach for all undergraduate mechanics courses as yet, but the potential is there.
