Here is a UMAT using an  elastic viscoplastic model for soil

Modifed Cam-clay model coupled with viscosity.

ABAQUS - UMAT (Free Download for Research Purposes)

A user-defined subroutine in ABAQUS for viscous soils.

Introduction:

The ABAQUS subroutine is for viscous soils, which
usually have the following characteristics.

First post - about rheology

Submitted by andrewsun on

The first post on iMechanica, which is an interesting site. First, it is scientists/engineers-targeted which is hard to get so crowded. And second it is exceptionally free. Everyone is free to post everything including ads, and there is no maintenance of "academic standard" or "quality" over here. However all the post I can see are of the topic of mechanics. I believe I will find it more interesting and helpful in the future.

I have written a umat subroutine for the example that is with usdfld subroutine analyzing damage in a composite lamina.

After checking and compiling the subroutine, this ERROR is shown: fix time increment is too large.

I changed the step madule data but the error still is here. What should I do to solve this problem?

Please help me with this problem

Protection mechanisms of the iron-plated armor of a deep-sea hydrothermal vent gastropod

Submitted by Haimin Yao on

Dear Colleagues,

I would like to bring your attention to our latest PNAS paper which
was just published on-line in Early Edition. This paper focused
on the protection mechanism of the unique snail (Crysomallon squamiferum) shell from deep-sea hydrothermal environment. It is an Open Access Article. You can download it freely by clicking HERE or the attachment.

Self piercing riveted joint

Submitted by manibijju on

Hello,

I am working on Self piercing riveted joints and trying to simulate using Lsdyna, iam using piecewise linear plastic material model. The rivet is not able to pierce into the sheets, insted it is compressing the elements and elongating them. 4-noded shell elements where used. i want to know how will the elements get broken up or removed from the path of the rivet, I have used one way erode contact card but it was of no use. If any one can suggest  me how the approch should be i would be a great help.

Dear all,

I'm new to ABAQUS and I was wondering if we could have access to any constitutive equation in ABAQUS and add another stress tensor to the Cauchy stress tensor?

 regards,
