ABAQUS question on multi-core processor.

Submitted by Yongchang Lee on

Hi, all imechanicans,

I use ABAQUS 6.8-1 on REDHAT 64-bit which is recent version. My server has two quad-core processors. Even though I select 8 cpus to run the model I made, only two or three cpus are work, not 8 cpus. Why does it happen? Does anybody know about this?

My model is 2-D and has 1000 eight-node elements.

Thank you

Hi,

does anyone know how to import fluid pressure distribution obtained from ANSYS CFX as a surface loading into ANSYS, or other FEM software?

I am currently doing a design work on a valve. I did my CFD analysis in CFX and I want to do a stress analysis based on the results from CFD analysis. I could export the pressure distribution as dat file from CFX but have trouble to find a way to import it into ANSYS.

Thank you for your help!

Does anyone use FEAP here?

Submitted by yofee on

Hi everyone,

Does anyone using feap software?

Currently I'm attempting to compiling FEAP at Visual Studio.  After I successfully building of both library and executable,

It shows "========== Build: 1 succeeded, 0 failed, 0 up-to-date, 0 skipped ==========".  I considered this as a successful compilation.

However when I run in command prompt: feap -itherm_2d  (It's the 5th example input file in FEAP software),  the errors pops up as :
