Postdoc positions are available at Jiangsu University, Zhenjiang, China. Those possessing PhDs in the area of computational mechanics, experimental mechanics and material science are sought. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in advanced numerical methods, surrogate modeling/surrogate-based optimization, machine learning methods, uncertainty quantification, data-driven design and optimization,etc.
Job responsibilities (2-year recruitment)
It is my pleasure to solicit nominations for the "Eshelby Mechanics Award for Young Faculty". This award, launched in 2012, is given annually to rapidly emerging junior faculty who exemplify the creative use and development of mechanics. The intent of the award is to promote the field of mechanics, especially among young researchers. While interdisciplinary work that bridges mechanics with physics, chemistry, biology and other disciplines is encouraged, the ideal awardee will demonstrate clear inspiration from mechanics in his/her research.
Two PhD students are being sought to fill openings in the Gross Materials Lab (group website: andrewjgross.com) at the University of South Carolina. Research activities are focused on the design, fabrication, and characterization of architected materials. Students must be capable coders to be considered. Students interested in or having prior experience with finite element modeling, mechanical property testing, and 3D printing are strongly encouraged to apply.

The University of Southampton has just opened its call for applications to our prestigious Presidential PhD Scholarships programme. This is targeted at students with exceptional academic records. Applications have to be filed in through a supervisor, with a project. Please consult the UoS website to identify a potential supervisor in the area of research you are interested in.
Dear Community,
I invite you to submit an abstract in the broad field of Composites Manufacturing and 3D Printing to the MS 218, EMI 2020 to be held at Columbia University in New York. The deadline for submitting abstracts is Jan 15. 2020. The outline for this mini-symposia is attached.
Best Regards,

There are several PhD scholarships at School of Engineering, Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. The scholarship includes the annual stipend AU$27,596 for three years (with possible 6 months extension). The focus of the research will be on topology optimization of structures, materials, and metamaterials.
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
1) A Bachelor degree honours and/or a research master’s degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, applied mathematics, or a related field;
My research group has two RA positions openings in the near term.
One position is in the area of experimental mechanobiology, where we develop force sensors, measure mechanical force history of cells and tissues in vitro, and correlate the force history to cell functions. We target this RA position to be filled in Spring 2020.
Postdoc positions are available in the group of Prof. JG Zhu at Jiangsu University, Zhenjiang, China. Those possessing PhDs in the area of solid experimental mechanics are sought. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in experimental measurements and nondestructive techniques.
