CSME 2012 International congress- Recent developments in fatigue and fracture of engineering materials and structures

Submitted by rajeshprasanna on

Scope of Symposium

It is widely accepted that fatigue is the most common failure mode of structural components. Losses due

to fatigue failures annually are over several millions to billions of dollars. Apart from these economic

losses, fatigue failures are also responsible for causing major safety concerns due to the rapid and often

undetectable nature of the final components’ fracture. This symposium will bring together researchers

Post-Doc positions at the University of Salento in Lecce, Italy, within ERC StG Project "Interfaces"

Submitted by Laura De Lorenzis on

3 Post-Doc positions are available at the Department of Innovation Engineering at the University of Salento in Lecce, Italy. Funding is provided by the ERC Starting Researcher Grant project "INTERFACES - Mechanical Modeling of Interfaces in Advanced Materials and Structures". The topics are related to computational methods for interface modeling, isogeometric analysis, and mutlscale methods.

Research Scientist at TU Bergakademie Freiberg

Submitted by Sebastien Groh on

A research scientist position is available at TU Bergakademie Freiberg in the area of computational modeling of dislocation properties using either molecular dynamics, discrete dislocations or crystal plasticity. The research of the group focuses on dislocation properties at both the nanoscale and the microscale. The successful candidate should have a strong background in numerical modeling with demonstrated capability of innovative and independent research.
