I am co-organizing a mini-symposium on Cohesive Zone Models –
Fundamentals and Multiscale Applications (MS-139) in
the World Congress on Computational Mechanics (WCCM 2012) with Dr.
Glaucio H. Paulino at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign. We welcome papers that present theory and
applications of cohesive zone models at any length and time scales,
from atomistic and molecular to microstructural and phenomenological

Abstract

 Dear friends

 The obtained results from my model show that the ultimate load is higher
than the expected one. after checking the results, I found out that the
tensile stress of concrete is much higher than input value for the
tensile yield stress. "concrete damaged plasticity model"  is applied.

Czech Society of Mechanics Institutes Z.P. Bazant Prize for Engineering Mechanics

The Czech Society of Mechanics, Prague, has instituted the Z.P. Bazant Prize for Engineering Mechanics,
in honor of Prof. Zdenek P. Bazant, the McCormick Professor and Walter
P. Murphy Professor Of Civil Engineering And Materials Science. The selection
committee is composed of members from the Czech Technical University
and the Czech Academy of Sciences. The Prize is to be given annually.

I have divided the old notes on temperature into three parts:

• Principle of the conservation of energy
  
• Empirical observations of temperature (this part)
  
• Energy and fundamental postulate 
  

Our feeling of hotness comes from everyday experiences. These experiences indicate that many levels of hotness exist, and that all levels of hotness can be mapped to a real variable.

A full time Postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Sensory Motor Performance Program at The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. 

Under the general supervision of the assigned Senior Research Scientist, the Post Doc Fellow will be responsible for the development of a three-dimensional multi-scale finite element model of the human knee, and will compute the stress/strain fields in the joint soft tissues before and after common orthopaedic surgeries using three-dimensional hyper-elastic formulation.
