Two post-doctoral fellow positions are available in Sharma's research group at University of Houston. Potential candidates can visit the following website to get an idea of the kind of research projects undertaken in this group: http://www2.egr.uh.edu/~psharma/index.html. The positions are for one year but renewable for a second year upon satisfactory performance. Candidates are expected to be familiar with both atomistic calculation methods and continuum mechanics.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology: Faculty Position in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
(An opening from a colleague's group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory:)
Postdoctoral research associate positions are available in the area of materials joining and associated science and technology. The research emphases are expected to focus on computational modeling of welding phenomena including heat transfer, stress and distortion, and non-equilibrium phase transformation/microstructure evolution. The successful applicant should have a strong background and interest in materials joining with demonstrated capability of innovative and independent research.

Abstract
The Micromechanics Lab at the School of Engineering in Monash University Sunway Campus (Malaysia) is
seeking candidates to fill a research assistantship post who are
interested to continue the project as a Master or PhD project. The research
assistant will work on a project that requires carrying out experiments and computer
simulation using state-of-the-art equipments, namely the Bruker SAXS/WAXS
machine (available at MIMOS Sdn Bhd), micro-tensile test rig and multi-physics
Finite Element software to investigate basic properties that are responsible
for ensuring the mechanical and electrical reliability of the sub-micron
wire-bond in semiconductor devices such as RAM. The work will be conducted in
Dear Colleague:
The SEM XII International Congress and Exposition on Experimental and Applied Mechanics will be held at the Hilton Orange County, Costa Mesa, CA, USA on June 11-14, 2012.
I would like to invite you to submit a paper to the session entitled "Viscoelastoplasticity and Damage" sponsored by Time Dependent Materials and Composite Materials Divisions. I am soliciting papers involving time (rate)-dependent constitutive and fracture/failure behavior of materials.
