Analysis of the Rate-Dependent Coupled Thermo-Mechanical Response of Shape Memory Alloy Bars and Wires in Tension

In this paper, the coupled thermo-mechanical response of shape memory alloy (SMA) bars and wires in tension is studied.It is shown that the accuracy of assuming adiabatic or isothermal conditions in the tensile response of SMA bars strongly depends on the size and the ambient condition in addition to the rate-dependency that has been known in the literature.

Dr Pat Campbell, Director of the Implant Retrieval Laboratory Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital, will be giving a Keynote Lecture at the ICoBT Imperial College London 18-21 September.  

The topic of her keynote will be implant retrieval analysis as a tool to investigate and solve clinical problems.  Metal-on-metal hip premature failure and revision is the focus of intense interest and controversy at present. 

Plotting stress-strain graph from simulation

Hi everyone, I am studying an example in Abaqus example problems manual (version 6.10) called "uniaxial rachetting under tension and compression". In the example there is a graph plotting axial stress-strain relationship for experiment data and simulation data. By studying the inp file I knows that the writer has ask for some outputs like RF1, RF2, RF3, S, ALPHA, ALPHAN, LE and so on in certain node and element set. However, I still can't figure out how writer use the output data from simulation to plot the axial stress-strain graph.

how is the stress-strain field near the crack tip under cyclic loading?

hi!

i am interested in the fatigue crack growth of a cracked body.Recently,i am stucked by a problem of how is the stree-strain relationship near the crack tip  under cyclic loading.As we know,the HRR field near a crack tip under monotanic loading is well solved.So,i doublt that if the type of the HRR formulation can still be used under cyclic loading.If not,why?And how to solve this problem?if there is any suggestions or references ,i would be appreciated!
