Research Associate Position in SERB sponsored Project

Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate (RA) in a project sponsored by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) under the Core Research Group (CRG) scheme entitled “Dynamic fracture at a non-planar interface” (File No. CRG/2022/004550) sanctioned to Prof. Ranjith Kunnath at Mahindra University. The project involves developing mathematical formulations for dynamic fracture problems and their numerical implementation.

The LESION (CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM BIOMECHANICS) Laboratory at the University of Mississippi's Department of Biomedical Engineering is seeking graduate students (PhD, MSc).

The LESION Lab aims to develop imaging and modeling tools for the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of central nervous system disorders, with a particular focus on diseases related to the eye and brain, such as glaucoma and traumatic brain injury.

A point that has been overlooked is whether plastic anisotropy affects the thermomechanical coupling, expressed via the Taylor Quinney coefficient.

I. Introduction

In this paper we formulate and solve the initial-boundary value problem of accreting circular cylindrical bars under finite extension. We assume that the bar grows by printing stress-free cylindrical layers on its boundary cylinder while it is undergoing a time-dependent finite extension. Accretion induces eigenstrains, and consequently residual stresses. We formulate the anelasticity problem by first constructing the natural Riemannian metric of the growing bar. This metric explicitly depends on the history of deformation during the accretion process.
