Geometric nonlinearity in Abaqus

Hi all,

Abaqus Fictitious Surfaces for Beams -- Help

All,

Hello. Looking to create a fictitious surface around an Abaqus model that uses beam elements for the purpose of transferring pressure loads from CFD to the beam. We are restricted to using beam elements; indeed, structure is a very long and thin beam.

What is the easiest way to do this?

Most grateful for your help.

Abaqus user subroutines - migrating to version 6.12

Hello,

I have a user subroutine (UEL) written in Fortran that was running correctly when I used Abaqus V6.5 (in XP) and Compaq Visual Fortran to compile.  I was running as abq654 job=s00 user=abafer.for inter.

Now, I want to migrate to WIN7 and use Abaqus 6.12 with the same user subroutine. I read the manual on 6.12 and the interface for user subroutines has not changed. So no issue there. Indeed, when I run the user subroutine as abq6121 job=s00 user=abafer.for inter, the program runs successfully.

Summer Position in Washington DC - Conversion of Database Assisted Design (DAD) Code to C++

All,

I am seeking a student for the summer (May-August) to begin working on the conversion of an existing MATLAB-based code for the Database Assisted Design (DAD) of tall steel buildings under wind loads to C++. Obviously, the only prerequisite is proficiency in both C++ and MATLAB. A background in wind engineering is not needed as you will learn along the way.

Please note that this is job intended for an undergraduate/graduate student already in or planning to be in the DC area this summer. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to pay travel expenses from far-away places.
