Non-linear buckling analysis using static riks method-abaqus

Submitted by juliuspusic on

hi,i have been doing non-linear buckling analysis using STATIC RIKs method

my model specification:   length:65 metre, dia=2.85metre,thickness=0.38meter

and i am having the following doubts:

1.i have done Eigen value buckling analysis first and got the mode values..but for getting the mode shapes which load value i have to apply????(whether calculated euler buckling load value)

2.i have given imperfection as 0.0038  i.e..,10% of thickness value is it correct????

Abaqus help

Submitted by Amdebrhan M. on

Dear all,

I'm doing a dynamic analysis and optimization of high speed railway bridges. After developing the abaqus input file (*inp), the following errors have occured and I was unable to solve them. I have attached a picture showing the node number that I used to model the train. the car body and the bogies are model as a rigid body in which nodes 6001,6004 and 6501 are the reference nodes.

1. An overconstraint problem. it says "Zero pivot when processing Node 6004 d.o.f 2, node 6004 d.o.f 6 and node 6001 d.o.f 6

Postdoctoral Positions in Computational Mechanics and Multiphysics at the US Naval Research Laboratory

Submitted by Siddiq Qidwai on

The Multifunctional Materials Branch of the Materials Science & Technology Division at the US Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC has an interest in postdoctoral associate candidates for several areas in computational mechanics and multiphysics.

Topic of interest include: a) biomechanics of injury at high-rate of deformation at multiple scales, b) multiscale dynamics of flexible armor, c) crystal plasticity and dislocation dynamics in electrically assisted deformation of metals, and d) multiphysics modeling of corrosion.

Postdoc position in Oxford on soft-tissue mechanics

Submitted by goriely on

I am advertising a 2 to 3 year post-doctoral position to work with me on aspect of soft-tissue mechanics (modelling/computation).

I am looking for somebody with strong numerical background and some experience in the modelling of soft-tissues (brain in particular)

For more info, have a look at http://www.maths.ox.ac.uk/node/23489  or contact me directly at goriely [at] maths.ox.ac.uk

Open PhD Position in Computational Multiphysics

Applications are invited to the Civil and Computational Research Centre, Swansea University, for a PhD in the field of Computational Multiphysics. This project is in collaboration with Siemens Magnet Technology (SMT) and will be funded by an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) case award with an enhanced stipend.

Post-Doc position for Monte Carlo simulations in Graphene power electronics

Submitted by Cemal Basaran on

A post-Doc position is available on a project on Ensemble Monte Carlo simulations of graphene for power electronics applications for studying the effect of boundary scattering of charge carriers in graphene nanoribbons. The project is sponsored by the Office of Naval Research- global (ONR) - Department of Defense (DOD)- U.S. Navy.
