We are organizing a mini-symposium, "Fracture and Instabilities in Soft Materials", on the 13^th International Conference on Fracture, which will be held during June 16-21, 2013 in Beijing, China. We would like to invite you to submit an abstract on your recent research findings in related areas. Our Mechanics of Materials Group at Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands, in association with Materials innovation institute M2i, has two openings for talented PhD students in the field of multiscale mechanics of materials. They are part of a project on multiscale hygro-mechanics of paper. The industrial background of the project is in inkjet-printing. One opening is on experimental characterisation and the other on multiscale computational modelling.

For exceptionally suited young doctors we may consider changing the positions into PostDoc positions.

The 24th Melosh Competition  for the Best Student Paper on Finite Element Analysis will be held at Duke University on April 26, 2013.  The competition has become one of the premier graduate student events in the broad area of mechanics.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position, which will be available at the start of the 2013-2014 academic year. The position is expected to be at the rank of assistant professor, but may be at the rank of associate or full professor for applicants with demonstrated scholarship, including a strong record of securing and conducting externally funded research.
