Hardness value from Nanoindentation Curve

Submitted by atiwari on

Hi,

Is there anyone aware of the reason why there is a surge in hardness value during the initial stages of penetration in nanoindentation curve. In a plot of hardness vs displacement into surface, I record a high value during the initial stages of the run. I am little confused about the reason.

Thanks,

How to apply uniformly distributed load to shell element when I do nonlinear analysis of I-BEAM

Submitted by speedeagle on

Hi, everyone:

I am using ABAQUS to do my final dissertation:nonlinear analysis of steel members.

I want to apply UNIFORMLY DISTRIBUTED LOAD to the middle height of the web, I splited the web into top and bottom parts, but nomatter I use 'LINE LOAD' OR 'SHELL  edge LOAD' ,it does not work at all.

Thank you so much in advance, any opinion is welcome.

Abaqus: How to lower the stiffness linear curve of load vs deflection of concrete slab

Submitted by kaizen on

Dear all,

Iam modelling a simply supported RC slab with Abaqus using Concrete Damaged Plasticity subjected to a concentrated load at the top surface of the slab. I have used element type C3D8R for concrete and truss elements to represent steel bars.

I found the result of FEM showed that the linear part of load versus deflection, i.e. from zero load up to yield load shows a very stiff curve compare to the experimental test results.

Postdoc in Characterisation of Steel
