Some references on dynamic testing

Submitted by qwei on

First of all, I would like to thank you all for the response. I apologize for the much delayed reply.

In what follows, I will list a few references about
dynamic behaviors of materials at large and the testing techniques. Of
course I will definitely omit some important books or papers since after
all I am more a materials scientist. Therefore, if you know of know of
any good references, please let us know.

Plain concrete failure

Submitted by HussamNasreddin on

Hello all,

I am trying to model concrete as an elastic material in ABAQUS. The model can be any simple structure (cube, beam or column) but the main feature is that concrete behaviour is elastic up to a limiting strain (St. Venant's theory). Which of the  Failure criteria in ABAQUS i should be using (Elasticity or brittle cracking)? if neither would you mind explaining other options?

Thanks

 Hussam

Combining UMAT with XFEM

Submitted by Panos Efthymiadis on

Hi all,

I 'd like to ask whether anyone has applied XFEM for a user-material (UMAT). What is the process to do that? Could anyone provide some advice, documentation or guidelines?

All the best,

Panos

p.s. I 've heard that a UEL code is needed to couple XFEM with UMAT.
