Adiabatic temperature in Abaqus VUMAT

Submitted by sonia_1986 on

Hi All ,

I found  simple VUMAT from Abaqus manual. It is based on

Von Mises plasticity and gives stress components, vonmises stress

and plastic equivalent strain.

I want to include the adaibatic temperature that rises/falls along the deformation in adiabatic

analysis. From a general book, i found that temperature-rise during deformation comprising

plastic strain1 to plastic strain 2 is given by:

Integral of stress between the strain limits, multiplied by a constant.

Questions about dislocation souce

Submitted by Xu Zhang on

As our body, we birth, grow up and dead? Wil the dislocation souce be the same process, if it’s so, what’s the detail process.

(1):the birth of dislocation source

There are many dislocation multiplication mechanism, such Frank-Read source, cross-slip mechanism, L-source. So the questions is that when will these mechanism become active, will the stress be the only criterion? IF so ,what determine the critical stress? Will this critical stress change with the deformation, how is this change?

(2):the evolution of dislocation source

Citation analysis? it is an old story!

Submitted by RoozbehSanaei on

I started my research on citation system with a very positve attitude about that. I have read many of scientometrics papers, but now I am completely disappoined! In the report by the International Mathematical Union (IMU) (attached) about citation statistics. I found an interesting sentence! Citation should not be used for evaluation of different papers in two different disciplines. How about different papers from two different sub-disciplines? and even two different  sub-sub-disciplines? and so on!

stepTime vs. totalTime in VUMAT

Submitted by fred254 on

Hi

I’m trying to develop a VUMat routine so I’ve already
started to learn its features. I recently got this problem that what exactly
the variable stepTime means! I created a model with 3 steps including the initial
step and I coded my routine somehow that when the stepTime is equal to 0 it
prints something into a file. Surprisingly only once in whole analysis the
stepTime would be 0 and that’s exactly at the beginning of the analysis when
totalTime is in fact 0. Could anyone please explain why this happens?

Thanks
