Modeling DCB Specimen using Ansys to determine Energy Release Rate

Submitted by Renjith C S on

Hi

         Iam working on ansys modelling of DCB specimen to determine the energy release rate. Ihave modeled a CT specimen and determined its SIF. Is it right way to model the DCB by changing the dimensions of CT specimen and making it a DCB specimen?..

How can i find out energy release rate of the specimen?

Iam pretty new to Ansys

Hi,How to apply seismic accelaration on the BC in abaqus.thank you!:}

Submitted by NewerLi on

I am confused about apply BC of a model in abaqus. because I find that if I apply the accelaration of earthquake on BC, I must remove the fixed constraints applied on BC in previous step in abaqus. so the model become a free body without any constraints.

 any expert can give me some detailed suggestions?thank you very much!^_^

Bloch-periodic boundary conditions in classical and enriched FEM

Submitted by N. Sukumar on

In the attached paper (accepted for publication), we present enriched FE formulations to impose Bloch-periodic boundary conditions. Bloch-periodic BCs arise in the description of wave-like phenomena in periodic media: periodic composites, Schrodinger equation in quantum mechanics, photonic band-gap materials, etc. For a perspective, see the J-Club on elastodynamic bandgaps and metamaterials that was organized by Biswajit Banerjee

Meshfree/Meshless methods(MLPG)

Submitted by Neelesh.P on

I am using Meshless Petrov-Galerkin Method(MLPG) for non-rectangular domains. There is a flexibility of using any shape for weight function and also for local quadrature  domain. Here in my case case weight function domain and local quadrature domains are same.

 I want to know that  , for non-rectangular domains,how the different shapes of weight functions (specially circular or rectangular) will affect accuracy of the result  ?
