Research experience from a physicist

Submitted by Joseph X. Zhou on

Just back from Prof. Mahir Hussein's seminar. He is really one of best physicist I  have ever met. In past 30 years, he published more than 200 papers in the field of nuclear resonance, laser accelerated particles etc. There are more than 30 papers published in PRL alone. When input his name " M.Hussein" in arXiv.org, you can easily found 95 papers by him.

Centrifuge Reliability Problems is solve

Centrifuge is a machine that spins
at a high rate of speed to separate solids from a liquid. The big problem with
the Centrifuge equipment is its reliability. Conventional centrifuge designs are
often break down in brusque industrial environments and which can affect the
whole assembly line operations. So many industries try to avoid the use of
centrifuge equipment. This problem of origin is lies on the relationship

Research Proposals

Submitted by msd.jacob on

Hello Everybody,

As researcher, eventhough we know all the theoretical background of our research, some time it is really very difficult task to write an attractive research proposal. Is there any standard format to write a proposal? Your advice may be helpful to few of the research guys like me.

My undergraduate and master major is engineer mechanics. I have took several courses about this field, like theory of elasticity and mechanics of materials. But my major during master degree is plant bio-mechanics, especially the role of water surface tension and water transport. So I deeply feel that I need to learn solid mechanics again. That is why I choose this course.

The Future of Conference

Submitted by Teng Li on

Attending conferences is one of the essential professional activities for scientific researchers. Conferences take various forms, such as community-wide meetings (e.g., MRS meetings, ASME congress, APS meetings), and topic-focused meetings/workshops (e.g., Plasticity07, Gordon Research Conferences(GRC)).  While people have different preferences on the types of conference to attend (e.g., see a recent iMech poll initiated by Biswajit Banerjee ), here are some common positive driving forces to motivate one to attend a conference:

MODELING OF FGM IN ABAQUS

Submitted by ravitejk4u on

hello every one,

i am Ravitej, doing my Mtech at IIT kanpur, India. Now, i am working  on FGM( funtionally Graded Materails). Can i model the FGM as a layered specimen with the youngs modulus varying according to layers. is there any special elements in abaqus, so that we can assign property variation along the thickness.

Problem that i had faced with the layerd model is

1) stress is not continous at the interface of layers, then how can we believe that the solution obtained is correct
