Available PhD position at the Division of Mechanics at Lund University

Submitted by Pär Olsson on

The Division of Mechanics at Lund University, Sweden, invites applicants for a PhD position oriented towards multiscale modelling of grain boundaries in metals. The research program focuses on improving the understanding and modelling capabilities of impurity induced grain boundary embrittlement, with special emphasis fusion reactor materials, i.e. primarily tungsten. The ultimate goal of this research is to develop an atomistically-informed continuum-based theoretical and computational framework to predict the failure of impurity inhabited grain boundaries.

The Technical University of Denmark, DTU, offers Three PhD projects in the area of Multi-scale Mechanical Testing and Modelling of Polymer Composites in Large Structures

Submitted by Bent F. Sørensen on

DTU Civil Engineering, DTU Mechanical Engineering and DTU Wind Energy are  inviting applications for three 3-year PhD positions starting summer 2017 as part of an exciting project ‘Understanding Fatigue though multi-scale testing and modelling’ in the new Villum Center for Advanced Structural and Materials Testing – CASMaT.

Apply for this job no later than 5 May 2017.

effect of water acceleration in transient dynamic analysis

Submitted by sachin46 on

Dear all,

I would to like to perform transient dynamic analysis of structure in ANSYS ,where internal static pressure has been applied .

I have a query regarding how to consider the dynamic acceleration of inside water in analysis.I am using SHELL181 element for analysis.

Any input or help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance.

Problem with solving a nonlinear boundary value problem in Maple software

Submitted by Arash Krg on

The problem is related to swelling induced bifurcation in thermally activated hydrogels. At a special temperature near the phase transition, where the variation is relatively great, Maple stops calculating with initial Newton iteration convergence error. How can I solve the problem?

Your response will be greatly appreciated
