non linear frequency analysis

Submitted by phrankie81 on

Hi,

I'm trying to run a frequency analysis of a composite beam with non-linear properties in Abaqus. Is it possible to make use of the non-linear properties in the frequency analysis. If so how can I do it?

Composite beam in this case refers to a combination of steel and concrete.

Any detailed contributions will be appreciated.

Thanks

Shot Peen Hardness With Nanoindentation

The intention of shot peening is ultimately to alter the mechanical properties of a given surface. By hitting the surface with controlled shot the surface will deform plastically. Proper Instrumentation, nanoindentation, will play a vital factor in achieving reliable and intended results.

Basic question regarding composite failure during impact

Submitted by viveknra on
Hi everyone.. I am doing low velocity impact analysis on graphite/ epoxy
composite plate using abaqus. I have a basic question. During transverse
impact, when does a composite fail? The transverse tensile strength of
my composite is 45 Mpa, transverse compressive strength is 252Mpa,
Longitudinal tensile & compressive strengths are 1520 and 1590 Mpa
respectively. During my analysis, I got the Maximum von mises stress as
2093MPa at the point of impact, but still the failure criterion is not

Nonlinear Material Model using ANSYS

Submitted by riteshparikh on
I am performing the static analysis on hydraulics component where I am using the nonlinear material properties with multilinear kinematic material model having yield ~150 ksi and ultimate strength ~210 ksi. However I am getting first principal stress as 280 ksi and von Mises(equivalent) stress ~ 240 ksi.

I checked for the directional stresses where I find the stress in axial direction as ~279 ksi.

Whether it is possible to have the stresses above the given material limit (in this case true ultimate strength is 210 ksi).

Linking ABAQUS with Fortran

Submitted by George Papazaf… on

Dear all,

I have installed ABAQUS 6.10-1  and Intel Visual Fortran Compiler Professional Edition 11.1 for Windows. The installation of the last requires the previous installation of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. My operating system is Windows XP 32bit x86.

I am running the abaqus job and abaqus subroutine files in Abaqus Command (allowing ABAQUS to perform the compiling by including -user on the command line) and I get the following error message:
