Call for Abstracts, ASME 2017 IMECE, 3-9 November 2017, Tampa, Florida
Track: Materials: Genetics to Structures
Symposium: 11‐6 Phase Transformations in Materials Processing and Their Effects on Mechanical Properties
Hi Dear prospective supervisors
Im TEMO. I have recently been awarded PhD in Mechanical Engineering, particularly in computational mechanics. at the University of Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa. My research includes the numerical study of the vibration, buckling of composite plates, nanobeams and nanoplates aswell as the study of optimisation of beams and plates subjected to various forces and flowing fluids. My numerical expertise includs DQM, FEM, FDM...
Dr. Eliot Fang (Sandia), Dr. Yuris Dzenis (UNL), Dr. Alaa Elwany (TAMU), Dr. Rob Taylor (UTA) and I are organizing the Congress-Wide Symposium on Additive Manufacturing: Failure of Additively Manufactured Materials.
This minisymposium is co-sponsered by AMD and Track 2-2 and Track 12-15
Please submit abstract by March 6 2017

Symposium Description:
Hi all friends,
I have a question. Why the Jacobian matrix (DDSDDE) in UMAT is defined as:
∂Δσ/∂Δε
rather than:
∂σ/∂ε
And can anybody tell me what's the difference between them?
Thank you all for your help,
Tianhao Yan

Dear Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the co-organizers, I would like to invite you to submit an abstract to the symposium on Multiphysics Simulations and Experiments for Solids as part of the upcoming 2017 ASME IMECE conference to be held at Tampa, Florida from November 5th to November 8th. This symposium is a continuation of the previous symposia that have been successfully organized in the previous ASME IMECE conferences.

We are looking for candidates for this PhD project entitled: 'Strain rate sensitive properties of skin- The development of combined theoretical and experimental tools to capture the strain rate dependent behaviour of soft tissues'. If you are interested, you can consult the full project description here, and contact Dr Frances Davis at frances.davis [at] soton.ac.uk.
We recently awarded a grant to develop stent-graft. We welcome those young scientists to apply for a 'Research Scientist' position at IHPC, A*STAR. The candidates should come from computational mechanics background, and have some previous experience in the study of medical devices including cardiovascular stents and stent-grafts. others: 1). Computational bioengineering and biomechanics, structural optimization 2). Familiar with software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, SOLIDWORKS, etc.
