Hybrid Composite Tensile Test

Dear Engineers.

 I am Master degree student and I am trying to determine Young's Modulus of Hybrid Composite. Since I Don't have any material properties in detail of each part of mentiond composite, I chose an experimental tensile test with MTS machine to attain at Least Young's Modulus. The major problem which I have faced is that due to limitation on my sample, i can just prepare specimen for transverse tensile test based on ASTM standard which recommend geometrical dimensions for specimen.

Saint-Venant's Principle: Rationalized and Rational

The problem of statement of Saint-Venant's Principle is concerned.  Statement of Boussinesq or Love  is ambiguous so that its interpretations are in contradiction with each other. Rationalized Statement of Saint-Venant’s Principle of elasticity  is suggested to rule out the ambiguity of Statements of Boussinesq and Love. Rational Saint-Venant's Principle is suggested to fit and guide  applications of the principle  to  fields of continuum physics and cover the analogical case as well as the non-analogical case discovered and discussed in this paper .

Zanaboni Theory and Saint-Venant's Principle: Updated

Zanaboni Theory is mathematically analyzed in this paper. The conclusion is that Zanaboni Theorem is invalid and  not a proof of  Saint-Venant's Principle;  Discrete Zanaboni Theorem and Zanaboni's energy decay are inconsistent with Saint-Venant's decay; the inconsistency, discussed here, between Zanaboni Theory   and Saint-Venant's Principle  provides more proofs that Saint-Venant's Principle is not generally true.

UMAT Multi-element Issues

Hello All:

 

I have written a UMAT code to predict the viscoelastic behaviour within a shape adaptive structure. I have followed similar steps used in Abaqus subroutine manual, I have applied this UMAT to a single quad element and it works as predicted. But when I apply it multiple elements model it breaks down. 

Is there any special command i need to put in UMAT subroutine to account multi element analysis? I will appreciate all related comments,

a question about XFEM

Hellow everyone,

I've been studying XFEM method in Abaqus these days, then i want to model an inclusion problem to see the crack initiation and propagation at the interface. First i sketch a square to stand for a unit cell, then in order to assign different sections to inclusion and matrix, i cut a circle (circular inclusion) from the initial square. But when it comes to meshing, i don't know how to mesh the instance with structral quad elements independantly of the outline of the inclusion. Could anyone help me?
