Mass scaling factor in abaqus

Submitted by kdevarajanmts on

dear sir

i am rolling of thick plates analysis in abaqus.Completing one analysis it took 10-15 minutes. i want to do minimum 35 analysis by cahnging the rolling paramters. some one told me that if you are giving the mass sacling factor means CPU time will reduce, and process will complete as soon as possible. my stip lenthg is 100mm and thick ness is 6mm, and feed rate is 20m/s. please can tell me how to give mass sacling value for this problem.

Thank you very much

modeling of composite cylinder in abaqus

Submitted by chincholi3288 on

i am working on composite risers and it has inner steel liner and carbon epoxy layers ,where there are  19 layers with 88 and 0 degree orientation alternatively. plss help me in modeling it.

1) i have assumed nu12 =nu23 for transverse isotropy case. i needed engineering constants to give as material properties. am i right???

2)how to create local coordinate system and assign it material orintation.

Postdoctoral Research Associate in Materials Joining Science and Technology at Oak Ridge National Laboratory

Submitted by Yanfei Gao on

(An opening from a colleague's group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory:)

Postdoctoral research associate positions are available in the area of materials joining and associated science and technology. The research emphases are expected to focus on computational modeling of welding phenomena including heat transfer, stress and distortion, and non-equilibrium phase transformation/microstructure evolution. The successful applicant should have a strong background and interest in materials joining with demonstrated capability of innovative and independent research.

suitable contact for sph in LS-DYNA

Submitted by rozaiman on

Hi there,

I'm using SPH in LS-DYNA as my tool to simulate the projectile penetrate the box. Both projectile and box are modeled as sph.

I'm having problem to determine the suitable contact of these two entity.

Could someone please help me... any tips that will help me to tackle this problem is highly appreciated!

Thanks...

how to find or evaluate the damage and critical damage

Submitted by anandjames on

Hello Sir, I am doing research on the journal "A continuum damage mechanics model for void growth and micro crack initiation". In that i am modellling the cylinder with preneck. i have applied tensile load and found the induced stress.  Now, I want to find out the damage and i need to plot the damage vs plastic strain graph and I dont know how to do it abaqus or ansys. Can u please guide me or let me know how to find out the damage and plastic strain and also suggest me the weblinks if there are any which tells about the evaluation of the damage?
