Which is a good mesh?

Hi,
Let us say I have a 2D domain which is to be meshed with quadrilateral and triangular elements.
I would say; we mesh the whole domain with ONLY quadrilateral elements but wherever we find any of the interior angles of the quadrilateral grreater than 120 degrees I inser a diagonal to get a consequent triangle thus eliminating the angle greater than 120 degrees .
Please can I have some opinions in this regard?

If you're using commerical
If you're using commerical FE package usually there is a feature to check the mesh quality. You can mix quad with triangular elements; with some geometries you have to do that to get a reasonable mesh quality. You probably want to do a mesh sensitivity analysis.
Hi Kajal, quadrilateral
Hi Kajal,
quadrilateral elements are generally better than trias, because they can partly reproduce linear strain field (e.g. bending), while triangles can reproduce only constant strain states. I have the feeling that even distorted quads work better than two trias, but I am not completely sure. You should check with a small model.
