Extracting boundary conditions from output database (odb) file using ABAQUS scripting
Sun, 2011-09-11 06:21 - Suman.Guha
Hi,
I am familiar with abaqus python scripting to create odb files and to extract nodal data from an output database (odb) file in ABAQUS. I would like to know whether it is possible at all, to extract the boundary conditions from an odb file. I guess that the boundary conditions are not stored in an odb file. But I am not sure. Any help in this regard ??

Abaqus scripting reference manual
Hi Suman,
You may have a look into the section 8.16 of the Abaqus Scripting Reference Manual.

Thanks, but I had already
Thanks, but I had already done that. No hope till now.
Did you find out how to solve your problem?
Dear Suman:
Did you finally find out how to solve this problem? I have the same problem as you had. There is a way to search between nodal displacement and pick those nodal DOFs that have zero values as boundary condition DOFs, but I don't know if this is a god idea or not?
Regards,
Malekan
Hi Malekan,
Hi Malekan,
No I couldn't find any solution. What you are suggessting will be applicable only for displacement boundary conditions at a fixed boundary. However, that could be one way of doing it.
Thanks.
Suman
