The Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Systems Engineering has an opening at the Assistant Professor level for an outstanding individual with demonstrated expertise and research potential in Advanced Computational/Theoretical Solid Mechanics, and is seeking an exceptional person who will be expected to become an international leader in this field. This is an academic year, tenure-track position, beginning Fall 2014. Interested applicants can learn more about the department by visiting the department’s web site (mcise.uri.edu).   
The successful candidate will join an already strong solid mechanics program, and will be expected to establish a nationally recognized research program by applying various cutting edge computational/theoretical modeling schemes in one or more areas such as: micro, nano and atomistic simulations; multi-scale modeling; materials under extreme environments including high temporal and spatial resolutions; biomechanics. The candidate will also be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Mechanical Engineering.
